Ethiopia is located at the Horn of Africa or North East of Africa.


Area Size

These highlands are bisected by the Great East African Rift Valley which starts at the Read Sea  and continue through the Danakil Depression[a desert area in the country contains one of the lowest point in the world having 116 meters below sea level]. Climate. Generally, there are two seasons, the dry season, which prevails from October to May, and the wet season which runs from June to September. Even in the wet season, however, it rarely rains for a full day, and traveling is usually quite pleasant.

 History. Ethiopia is old beyond imagination. It is a country having more than 3000 year’s old history. According to recent archaeological findings the age stretched back to some 4.4 million years when the oldest human ancestor ever found in the country.

 People and Culture. The population is estimated more than 90 million. This makes the second populous country in Africa next to Nigeria. Ethiopia is home to more than 83 tribes with adorable and mosaic multi-cultures.

Language. Amharic is the official language of the country with its unique alphabet and more than 70 language spoken in the country. The language in Ethiopia divided into Semitic, Cushitic, Nilotic and Omotic family.

Economy. Commercial estates supply coffee, cotton, sugar, fruit, and vegetables to the nation’s processing industries and for export. Legumes and oilseeds are also grown on a commercial scale. The most important food crops grown primarily for local consumption are cereal grains such as Teff, wheat, corn, and sorghum. Ethiopian herders raise cattle, sheep, goats, and fowl.

Natural Resource. The fundamental natural resources of Ethiopia are primarily agricultural. The plateau area is fertile and largely undeveloped. The wide range of soils, climate, and elevations permits the production of a diversified range of agricultural commodities. A variety of mineral deposits exists, like iron, copper, petroleum, salt, potash, gold, and platinum are the principal ones that have been commercially exploited and gas production soon to be commenced.
